It 's only a few days to the Oscars and India 's entry, Lagaan,has the country waiting with bated breath for the results.Will we, won 't we,seems to be the query on every-body 's mind.The man responsible for this fren-Aamir Khan, spoke about Lagaan the Oscars. "The reports are excellent from the jury members, "says the actor-producer of Lagaan. He has already shown the film to Hollywood actress Goldie Hawn. She reportedly raved about the film and was specifically impressed with the characters of Goli and Kachra. Since Aamir does not know the Oscar mechan-ics, he has hired a Public Relations firm, which has helped him generate hype for his film. Says Aamir, "I am in a new land, and I don't know anybody here. Whatever happens will happen, but one good thing about the trip will be that if we win, it will be on the merit of the film, Ashutosh's vision and our individual effort." Adds Ashutosh, "The hype created India has spread across the States and people in L.A. are aware the film." Presently, the status quo of Lagaan's publicity is that the Academy members who have seen are praising this "song-and-dance drama that has a strong message." "Whether we bring home the Oscar or not, is not the issue," says he. "We have tried, and that is enough." Both he and Ashutosh are busy doing their best to promote the film. The campaign-ing and voting for all films has already come to an end. As the countdown begins, Aamir has begun taking stock of the situation.In this most important moment of his life and the history of Indian cinema, he wants a few of his close friends to join him in L.A. at the Awards ceremony.
